Implementation System
The tasks and duties of Wee Classes, Wee Centers, and Wee Schools are described below.
※ There may be exceptions by school and by the circumstances of the Metropolitan and Provincial Offices of Education.

What we do at Wee Class
Wee Classes offer counseling and programs for students in the school counseling room

Types of services
- Counseling and education programs; the Wee class counseling staff may introduce students with professional welfare organizations outside the school if needed.
※ In case there is no Wee Class, the school administrators may have their students either visit local Wee Center or have the professional visiting counselor visit the school (all student counseling is confidential and free of charge).
What we do at Wee Centers
Wee Centers provide the one-stop service of ‘Diagnosis-Counseling-Healing’ for students through a network of resources available in the community

- Students who attends schools without Wee Classes
- Students who find it difficult to have counseling at Wee Classes
- Students that the Wee Class staff considered need more comprehensive supports

- 9am~6pm on weekdays (closed on weekend/national holidays with some exceptions)
Types of Services
- Individual/group counseling, contactless counseling (telephone/online), school visits, psychological testing, special projects and events, counseling consultation, community collaboration, activities/programs, and Wee Center promotion

What we do at Wee Schools
Wee Schools offer a mid-/long-term commissioned alternative education where students can benefit from character education, vocational education, counseling, and social adjustment programs.
- Expected Students
- Students considered in need of mid-/long-term commissioned education, counseling, and healing process
- To enroll at Wee School:
- Apply by submitting the official school document
- Length of Stay
- Short-term: In accordance with the consulted period of time
- Mid-term: For 1 to 2 months
- Long-term: For at least 3 months
- * For minimum 1 week to maximum 2 years
Types of Services
- Students enrolled after 2011 should refer to the ‘High (Middle) School Curriculum Formation and Operation Guidelines’ of each Metropolitan and Provincial Office of Education according to the 2015 Revised National Curriculum (Ministry of Education Notification No. 2015-74 (Sept. 23, 2015) and No. 2017-108 (Jan. 6, 2017))
What we do at home-type Wee Centers
Home-type Wee Centers provide the mid-/long-term commissioned education specifically designed to help students return to their homes and schools. By providing various types of supports like protection, counseling, and education, students become better prepared to return to their original environments.
- Expected Students
- Students in education crisis (Chronic absenteeism, school refusal, victims/perpetrators of school violence), personal/social crisis (students in need of residential protection due to issues of emotional behavior problems, social withdrawal, juvenile misdemeanors/delinquencies, or teenage runaway) and/or family crisis (domestic violence, abuse/negligence, poverty, family disintegration, etc.)
- Length of Stay
- 3 months (may be extended if necessary)
Types of Services
- - Protection: Child guidance (food/clothing/shelter, personal hygiene, cleaning), night-time guidance and medical care (intake of medication or outpatient treatment)
- - Counseling: initiatory counseling, counseling for guardians/homeroom teachers/school counselors, home visit, follow-up counseling and home/school adjustment counseling
- - Psychological testing: Comprehensive psychological assessments and in-depth assessments
- - Education: Common subject courses for commissioned education curriculum (which includes attending students’ current registered school or taking the air and correspondence education courses), alternative subjects (emotions, careers, autonomy, living skills subjects), and creative activities (clubs, volunteering), and parent education
- - Follow-up management: homecoming days, family camps, activities designed to help students practice returning home after school or returning to school, and counseling and follow-up meetings to help students better adjust to the life after leaving home-type Wee Center
What we do at hospital-type Wee Centers
Hospital-type Wee Centers provide the commissioned alternative education that supports at-risk students facing psychological and emotional difficulties not only with counseling, education, treatment, and medical advice, but also with hospital treatment by medical specialists.

- Students who have trouble adjusting to school environment due to psychological and emotional issues or considered in need of medical treatments
